Your Curtains have arrived
- On receipt of the order, the curtains should be removed from the box and draped over an available surface.
- Check if you need additional gliders on the track. We recommend one hook every 5cms (2”) to achieve the correct drape.
Pencil Pleat Heading
- Ensure all 3 strings on the header tape are tied together at both ends.
- To pull the curtains up, hold the curtain tightly and pull from one end. Obviously, with some larger curtains you may need to pull up from both ends.
- Once the curtain is basically gathered to half the window width plus an additional 5-8cms (2”-3”) you should tie the cord with a slipknot to allow for alteration once hung. Wrap the excess cord around two fingers and tuck neatly away behind the header tape. Do not cut it or leave it hanging loose.
- Begin to insert your curtain hooks, starting with the middle point on the header tape and working to the outer edge of the curtain. Insert one hook every 5cms (2”).
- If your curtain does not have an overlap, put the hook on the curtain in the middle of the window on the 2nd to end pocket to allow a curtain overlap once the curtain is drawn. This is required on the curtain to the left as you walk into the room, to ensure that no light can be seen between the curtains when drawn.
- Once you are satisfied with the positioning of the curtains when drawn, the curtains can be set to ensure you get a beautiful drape. This is achieved by using a plastic bag with the bottom cut out to hold the drapes in position for at least 24 hours.
Pinch Pleat Curtains
- Your new curtains are supplied ready to hang with the hooks attached. A unique feature of these curtains is that you can adjust the drop by moving the hook down the slider. This process can be repeated until you are satisfied.
- Pinch pleat curtains have the pleats permanently sewn in and will be made to fit the exact width of the track or pole.
Fitting your pelmets
Bound Edge Pelmet
- Ideally this is most suited to a pelmet board.
- Your pelmet is supplied with specialist velcro for fitting.
- The whole reverse of the pelmet acts as loop Velcro so fitting is very easy and adjustable as often as needed. While the adhesive on the velcro is sufficient, you can give additional staying power to the velcro which attaches to the pelmet board by tacks or staples.
- Hang the pelmet starting from the middle point of the board. You can trim evenly at the ends if necessary.
Straight Frilled Pelmet
- Suitable for either a pelmet board or duo rail.
- When you receive your pelmet, treat as for pencil pleat curtains, i.e. tie knots at both ends of the cords prior to pulling up.
- Once gathered, the pelmet is hung on a rail using curtain hooks into the heading tape and then hung on the rail.
- For a board, hook velcro is placed on the board and then the gathered pelmet can be pressed against it. This is due to a ‘fluffy’ header tape which ensures a firm hold, when the curtain has been gathered.
Pinch Pleat Pelmet
- Suitable for either a pelmet board or duo rail.
- If you have a pelmet board, the pinch pleat pelmet is attached using velcro. While the adhesive on the velcro is sufficient, you can give additional staying power to the velcro which attaches to the pelmet board by using tacks or a staple gun.
- If you have a duo rail, the pinch pleat pelmet will be supplied with hooks at 15cms (6”) intervals. As supplied, the pelmet will cover the rail, however, you can adjust the height as the hooks are removable.
Washing & Care Instructions
The majority of our fabrics are machine washable, however pelmets and tie-backs should not be washed due to their make-up.
Please refer to your washing label sewn inside your product for details of how to wash and care for your curtains.
